Every county: what the covers cost, and how often FEMA pulled the trigger

Two covers, one FEMA trigger. Hurricane: pays when FEMA designates the county after a named storm; the track layers show how often a hurricane physically got there. Non-named storms, in green: a second cover for floods, tornadoes and severe storms anywhere in the country. Pick a layer, hover or tap a county.

Alaska and Hawaii are drawn; Puerto Rico and the territories are priced in the data but not drawn on this projection. Prices: 20-year declaration frequency blended with the state average, 55% expected loss ratio, $12 fee. Sources: OpenFEMA, refreshed 2026-10-11; NOAA HURDAT2 best track (Atlantic and NE Pacific, 2004 to 2025) plus NHC's preliminary best track for the 2026 season including Isaias. "Centre crossed" means the hourly-interpolated track centre entered the county while maximum sustained winds were 64 kt or more; "hurricane-force winds" means the county touched the storm's 64-kt wind-radii footprint. Post-tropical landfalls at hurricane strength, such as Sandy in 2012, count. Indication only, not insurance.
